The actor Fred Liewehr was engaged by Max Reinhardt to the Theater
in der Josefstadt in Vienna in 1931, two years later followed an engagement
at the Burgtheater.
During his long theater career he impersonated more than 260 parts
in about 8000 shows.
He made his film debut in 1935 with "Jana, das Mädchen aus dem
Böhmerwald" (35). His film engagement kept rare till the end of war,
among others he appeared in "Unsterblicher Walzer" (39) and "Brüderlein
fein" (42).
His activity in movies became more intensive after the war.
To his well-known post-war movies belong "Der Engel mit der Posaune"
(48), "Maria Theresia" (51), "1. April 2000" (52), "Mädchenjahre einer
Königin" (54), "Der veruntreute Himmel" (58), "Gustav Adolfs Page"
(60) and "Don Carlos" (61).
To his last cinematical works belong "Das Land des Lächelns" (74),
"Der Raub der Sabinerinnen" (76) and "Der Unbestechliche" (84).
