The actor Ernst Ludwig was born as Lukas Neumann in Vienna. He joined the film business in the middle of the 10s and he soon became a demanded movie actor. His film career remained limited to the silent movie era. His appearance in front of the camera was for "Ivan Koschula" (14), it followed numerous roles in productions like "Die verschleierte Dame" (15), "Das unheimliche Haus" (16), "Nirwana" (16), "Hoffmanns Erzählungen" (16), "Homunculus, 1. Teil" (16), "Die nicht sterben wollen..." (16), "Es werde Licht! 1. Teil" (17), "Das Bildnis des Dorian Gray" (17), "Die Perlen des Maharadschah" (17), "Das grosse Welträtsel" (18) and "Die rote Herzogin" (19) folgten. His last cinematical works came at the beginning of the 20s into being. To these works belong "Die Insel der Gezeichneten" (20), "Hans im Glück" (21) and "Das Gespenst auf Mortons Schloss" (22). Besides his activity as an actor Ernst Ludwig also realised a movie as a director with "Die Perlen des Maharadschah" (17). Ernst Ludwig was married with the singer Josefine Färber.
