The actor Franz Ludwig was a celebrated actor on stage in the first place, he only appeared sporadically on the big screen.

In his first movie he impersonated Bismarck in the movie of the same name in 1914. Eleven years later followed his second movie, again as Bismarck in "Bismarck 1. Teil" (25) and finally in "Bismarck 1862-1898" (27).

After that followed a long interruption and Franz Ludwig dedicated exclusively to the theater, only from the 40's followed other cinematical works with  "Die Geierwally" (40), "Der Meineidbauer" (41), "Ulli und Marei" (48) and "Das Lied der Hohen Tauern" (55).
Shortly afterwards he died at the age of 51.
