. The actor Nicolas Malikoff began his film career as a movie director in Russia. To these movies belong "Metel" (18) und "Belye golubi" (18). In Germany he appeared in 1922 for the first time, normally as an actor but sometimes as a director as well. His first German silent movie as an actor was "Erniedrigte und Beleidigte" (22). From the middle of the 20's he became a popular character actor whose impressive figure was accordingly brought into play. To his most popular silent movies belong "Die da unten" (26), "Fedora" (26), "Überflüssige Menschen" (26), "Der Kampf des Donald Westhof" (28) and finally "Rasputins Liebesabenteuer" (28) in which he impersonated the leading role. His film career ended with the rise of the talkies, the production "Das
Wolgamädchen" (30) was one of his last movies.
