. The actress Elfie Mayerhofer became well-known as a singer and got the nickname "Wiener Nachtigall - Viennese nightingale". She was born in Marburg and she studied music. She made her stage debut in Munich, later she went to Zurich and Vienna.
Elfie Mayerhofer made her film debut in 1938 with "Frauen für Golden Hill". In the next years followed musical movies in which she the audience bewitched. To her movies till the end of war belong "Hotel Sacher" (39), "Wir bitten zum Tanz" (41), "Meine Frau Teresa" (42) and "Das kleine Hofkonzert" (45). She continued her career after the war and was
giving concerts and appeared at operas.
To her post-war movies belong "Wiener Melodien"
(47), "Anni" (48), "Geliebter Lügner" (50), "Abschiedsvorstellung"
(55) and "Die Landstreicher" (68).
