In the talkies of the 30's she took part in well-known productions like "Der Mörder Dimitri Karramasoff" (31), "M" (31) by Fritz Lang, "Verräter" (36) and "Glückskinder" (36).

when the National Socialists seized power she was confronted with an other Germany and Austria. Therefore she had to emigrate to the USA where she was able to continue her film career.
She impersonated smaller roles in "The Strange Death of Adolf Hitler" (43) and "The House on 92nd Street" (47).

After the war she returned to Germany and continued her career there but kept busy between Europe and the USA where she acted in many productions.
To her well-known post-war movies belong "Ewiger Walzer" (54), "…und nichts als die Wahrheit" (58), "Town Without Pity - Stadt ohne Mitleid" (61), "The Wonderful World of the Brothers Grimm" (62), "Freud" (62), "Heidi" (68), "Cabaret" (72), "The Odessa File" (74), "Peppermint-Frieden" (83) and "The Little Drummer Girl" (84) - her last movie.
