The actress Gerd Nissen (also Gerd Egede Nissen) made her theater debut in 1910 at the National Theater in Oslo where she soon became one of the most important Norwegian stage actresses of her generation.
When she met the dramatist Nordahl Grieg - they got married in 1940 - she went to Denmark where she made her film debut with "En hofintrige - Das Geheimnis des Fürsten" (12).

In the next years followed other movies like "Livets blaendvaerk - Ein Intermezzo" (13), "Hans og Grethe" (13) and "Den hvide djaevel" (16). 
At the end of the 10's she went to Germany where she took part in the popular productions "Die Rachegöttin" (18), "Das Brandmal" (18) and "Die Jugendsünde" (19).

In 1922 she shot one of her most successful movis in Norway called "Pan" (22).

Gerd Nissen's sister Aud Egede Nissen was also a famous actress.
