The actress Martha Novelly already appeared on the stage from 1904 and acted at different theaters in the next years, from 1914 also in Berlin. Although in 1914 she made her film debut with the productions "General von Berning" (14) and "Um Liebe und Ehre" (14).

Her film career lasted till the beginning of the 20's. Other well-known silent movies were "Das Gewissen des Anderen" (17), "Der Fluch der alten Mühle" (18), "Der Ring des Hauses Stillfried" (18), "E, der scharlachrote Buchstabe" (18) and "Cagliostros Totenhand" (19).
