. The actor Max Ralf-Ostermann was born Max Albert Ralf Ostermann in Wiesbaden. He began his artistic career in the theater, where he appeared at the Residenz-Theater in Stuttgart from 1905. This was followed by engagements in Vienna. He was able to gain a foothold in film from 1913. In his first movie “Das Geheimnis der Lüfte” (13) he played a false friend. Among his co-stars were Julius Brandt as a detective and Karl Illner as a master pilot. Afterwards followed the silent movies “Ein Schritt vom Weg” (14) and “Der Verschwender” (17). Max Ralf-Ostermann impersonated numerous other roles in the cinema in the 20s, to these movies belong “Das Geld auf der Strasse” (22), “Wien, du Stadt der Lieder” (23), “Der Orlow” (27), “Liebe und Diebe” (28) and “Aus dem Tagebuch eines Junggesellen” (29). His last cinematical works came in the 30s into being. To his well-known works of those years belong “Die Försterchristel” (31), “Die Koffer des Herrn O.F.” (31), “Walzerkrieg” (33), “Ein Walzer für dich” (34) and “Nur nicht weich werden, Susanne!” (35), which was only released in cinemas after his death.
