. The production designer Ludwig Reiber finished an education at the art college in Munich before he entered the film business in 1923. There he first worked as an assistant of his older brother Willy Reiber before he became a production designer himself in 1925. To his well-known movies of the 20s for which he created the set belong "Das Parfüm der Mrs. Worrington" (25), "Der Schuss im Pavillon" (25), Alfred Hitchcock's "The Pleasure Garden" (25) as well as Hitchcock's "The Mountain Eagle" (26), furthermore "Der Jäger von Fall" (26), "Das Geheimnis von Genf" (28), "Die Hölle von Montmartre" (28), "Marquis d'Eon, der Spion der Pompadour" (28), "Waterloo" (29) and "Wenn der weisse Flieder wieder blüht" (29). His creativity remained undiminshed in the sound film era of the 30s and he was engaged again for numerous movies. To these works belong "Boykott" (30), "Peter Voss, der Millionendieb" (32), "Der Feldherrnhügel" (32), "Eine Frau wie Du" (33), "Lady Windermeres Fächer" (35), "Das Mädchen Irene" (36), "Arzt aus Leidenschaft" (36), Der Fall Deruga" (38) and "Altes Herz geht auf die Reise" (38). During World War II he was the production designer of "Wasser für Canitoga" (39), "Befreite Hände" (39), "Der Feuerteufel" (40), "Das Fräulein von Barnhelm" (40), "Das Mädchen aus Fanö" (41), "Anuschka" (42), "Tonelli" (43), "Orient-Express" (44) and "Wo ist Herr Belling?" (45). He continued his film career successfully after the war and he took part in German feature movies and TV productions as well as US movies. To his well-known postwar movies belong "Decision Before Dawn" (51), "Nachts auf den Strassen" (52), "Bildnis einer Unbekannten" (54), "Ich denke oft an Piroschka" (55), "Paths of Glory" (57), "Rommel ruft Kairo" (59), the serial "Tales of the Vikings" (59-60), "The Big Show" (61), "Bedaure, falsch verbunden" (62) and the classic serial "Die seltsamen Methoden des Franz Josef Wanninger" (66-70). His brother Willy Reiber was a production designer too, his daughter became a well-known TV host.
