. The nature-boy Sepp Rist was predestined for the mountain movies with his bronzed and weather tanned face. Before he started his film career he workes as an alpinist and was a talented skier. So it didn't surprise that he made his film debut with Arnold Fanck's movie "Stürme über dem Mont Blanc" (30) at Leni Riefenstahl's side. Three years later he acted again with Leni Riefenstahl in the movie "S.O.S. Eisberg" (33). In the 30's and 40's followed other successful production where he normally impersonated the robust nature-boy, so in "Die Reiter von Deutsch-Ostafrika" (33), "Der ewige Traum (34), "Der Springer von Pontresina" (34), "Der lachende Dritte" (36), "Die Geierwally" (40), "Krambambuli" (40), "Der Fall Rainer" (42), "Kohlhiesels Töchter" (43) and "Titanic" (43). He remained true to the nature movies after the war and took part in many movies with a regional background like "Grenzstation" (51), "Die grosse Schuld" (52), "Schützenliesel" (54), "Solange du lebst" (55), "Wo die alten Wälder rauschen" (56), "Der Adler vom Velsatal" (56) and "Jägerblut" (57). In the 60's he only appeared seldom in front of the camera, among others in "Drei Mann in einem Boot" (61), "Waldrausch" (62) and "Wenn Ludwig ins Manöver zieht" (67). Besides he also took part in two episodes of the successful criminal serial "Der Kommissar" in 1969. After the movies "Schloss Hubertus" (73) and "Der Jäger von Fall" (74) he retired from the film business. Sepp Rist was married with the actress Carla Rust (1908-1977).
