Director and screenwriter Harald Röbbeling began his career in theater, where he was encouraged by his father Hermann Röbbeling. At the Thalia Theater in Hamburg, he was initially a director before deciding to work as a screenwriter in film.

From the mid-30s he wrote the scripts for movies like "Martha" (36), "Kinderarzt Dr. Engel" (36), "Hochzeitsnacht" (38), "Die schwache Stunde" (43) and "Ein schöner Tag" (44).

After the war he continued his career as a scriptwriter but also realized first movies as a director.
As a director he realized movies like "Zyankali" (48), "Fregola" (48), "Asphalt" (51), "Der Weg zu dir" (52) and "Ein Herz braucht Liebe" (60) from 1948 on, for each of which he also wrote the screenplay.
