. The actor Josef Roemer was born as Josef Bernhard Georg Saft in Berlin. He began his career in 1908 at the theater in Hanau. In the following years followed numerous engagements at various German theaters. He conquered the still young film-going public with his film figure "Bubi" from 1915. He impersonated this figure in more than a dozen movies. To his movies of the 10s belong "Sein Schutzengel" (15), "Kaspar Hauser" (15), "Der Weg zum Reichtumg" (16), "Die Bettelprinzessin" (16), "Bubi ist eifersüchtig" (16), "Millionär Bubi" (16), "Im Banne des Schweigens "(16), "Bubi als Heiratsvermittler" (16), "Frau Lotte" (16), "Das Waisenhauskind" (18), "Bubi, der Tausendsassa" (18), "Die siebente Grossmacht" (19), "Das ewige Rätsel" (19), "Lola Montez" (19) and "Harikiri" (19). At the beginning of the 20s followed his last cinematical works. To his well-known silent movies of those years belong "Frauenruhm" (20), "Die schwarze Spinne" (21), "Nur eine Nacht" (22), "Ein Glass Wasser" (23) and "Komödianten" (25). Besides his activity as an actor Josef Roemer also realised a movie as a director in 1920 with "Die Flucht durch die Flammen" (20).
