. The actress Claire Rommer was born as Klara Romberger in Berlin. Although she was sent to a boarding-school by her parents she defied the opposition of her home and attended the famous Reinhardt school in Berlin. There soon followed first appearances on German stages. Claire Rommer made her film debut at the age of 18 with the movie "Wem nie durch Liebe Leid geschah" (22), it followed "Menschen und Masken" (23), "Die eiserne Braut" (25), "Qualen der Nacht (26), "Herkules Maier" (27) and "Kinderseelen klagen euch an" (27). She played successful in the productions "Aschermittwoch" (30), "Der Walzerkönig" (30), "Es geht um alles" (32) and "Tausend für eine Nacht" (33) in the 30's. Claire Rommer was married with Adolf Strenger, a prosperous Jew. With
the rise of the Nazis they had to leave Germany and both emigrated to the
USA via Portugal.
