The actress Gertrud Rottenberg got an education as an actress and singer before she made her stage debut.

She had to give up her stage career because of her stage fright but she played roles in some silent movies at the beginning of the 20s.
To these products belong "Killemann hat' nen Klaps" (20), "Der lustige Witwer" (20), "Leo und seine Kammerjungfer" (21) and "Das kommt vom Sekt" (22).

Her father Ludwig Rottenberg was bandmaster at he Opera of Frankfurt and to his co-workers also belonged Paul Hindemith. So Gertrud Rottenberg met Hindemith who was active as a concertmaster at that time and they got married in 1924.

Afterwards she concentrated to to career of her husband and she took care of the organisation and correspondence.
