Ida Russka

. The actress and operetta singer Ida Russka already became fascinated by singing as a child and she even had an appearance in front of the German emperor during an exhibition. As a teenager she run away with a troupe but her father who was against her plans took her back to the family. Still Ida Russka played one of the leading roles a few months later in the play "Das heisse Blut" which was performed at the theater in Vienna. In the next years followed theater engagements in different cities and she played at the side of stars like Alexander Girardi. She was especially successful with her operetta appearances in plays by Franz Lehar and Robert Stolz. She soon appeared in whole Europe and became not only established as on operetta singer but also as a character acrss. Finally she directed some plays and managed an own theater in Stuttgart. Thank to her huge popularity Ida Russka was also engaged for some movies. Her first movie was "Einen Jux will er sich machen" (16). Afterwards follwed the movies "Die Czardasfürstin" (19), "Mausi" (19) and "Madame Blaubart" (19). Afterwards she concentrated again to her stage career. Only in 1929 she took part again in movie called "Franz Lehar" (29). After an anew long interruption she continued her film career in 1948 and she impersonated support roles in the productions "Der Prozess" (48), "Wir haben eben geheiratet" (49) and "Geheimnisvolle Tiefe" (49). |
