The actor Franz Scharwenka began his career at the theater where he appeared on several stages.

He already entered the film business in 1913 with "Der Volkstyrann" (13), it followed the movies "Der Herr mit der Dogge" (18) and "Das Fräulein von Scuderi" (19).

He took part in few silent movies of the 20s like "Das schwarze Amulett" (20), "Die Frau von morgen" (21), "Kaiserin Elisabeth von Österreich" (21) and "Waterloo" (29).

At the beginning of the 30s he impersonated roles in the productions "In einer kleinen Konditorei" (30), "Das alte Lied" (30) and "Eine Frau, die weiss was sie will" (34).

It followed a long interruption before he acted again in front of the camera in 1957, this time for TV productions. To these works belong "Die Kraft und die Herrlichkeit" (57) and "Das grosse ABC" (57).
