Viktor Schwanneke

. The actor Viktor Schwanneke began his professional career as a bank clerk before he decided to become an actor. He made his stage debut in 1904 and it followed engagements at smaller theaters like Rudolfstadt. Finally he became established as a stage actor and he acted in Frankfurt, Stettin and Munich. He got a first engagement in Berlin in 1916 but returned to Munich again. But in 1920 he went back to Berlin where he remained in the next years. He not only appeared as a stage actor but also realised several plays as a director. From 1922 Viktor Schwanneke also became a demanded movie actor and he took part in the productions "Der bekannte Unbekannte" (22), "Marie Antoinette - Das Leben einer Könign" (22), "Dämon Zirkus" (23), "Horrido" (24), "Kampf um die Scholle" (25) and "Komödianten" (25). The transition to the sound film was no problem for him and he impersonated other roles in front of the camera till to his early death. To his last works belong "Die vom Rummelplatz" (30), "Ein Burschenlied aus Heidelberg" (30) and "Schachmatt" (31). His daughter Ellen Schwanneke became an actress too.
