Josma Selim

. The singer and actress Josma Selim became famous as a Chansonnière and he achived her greatest popularity with her teamwork with the composer Ralph Benatzky. They got married in 1914. Benatzky wrote numerous songs for her which she presented on stage. She often was companied by him on the piano. They appeared among others at the cabaret "Simplicissimus" and went on tour through many European countries. Finally they moved the the European theater metropole per se - Berlin. There they continued their career successfully. Thank to her popularity Josma Selim was engaged for a movie role in 1928 and she impersonated a support role in the production "Casanova" (28) with Anny Ahlers, Sig Arno, Wilhelm Bendow, La Jana and Michael Bohnen. Josma Selim already died at the age of 45 in 1929. Because her marriage with Ralph Benatzky underwent a crisis a year before there arose different rumors because of her unexpected death. |
