. The actor Fritz Schrecker entered the theater after 1910 and his engagements led him to many stages in Austria. After World War I he was active in Vienna where he appeared at the Neue Wiener Bühne, the Viennese Kammerspiele and at the Theater in der Josefstadt. Finally he was engaged to Berlin where became a demanded stage actor as well. There he was also spotted for the film and he impersonated his first role in the silent movie „Der Feldherrnhügel“ (26). His appearances in front of the camera remained seldom. Only in 1931 he took part in his first sound film „Die Koffer des Herrn O.F.“ (31) but this should be his last cinematical work for the time being. As a Jew he had to leave Germany when the National Socialists came into power and he returned to Austria. But there the political situation came to close in to him again and he emigrated to England. There he continued his stage career. After the war he became a demanded support actor in England for cinema and TV. He acted in the classic „The Third Man“ (49) and in the 50s followed productions like „Murder Without Crime“ (50), „Innocents in Paris“ (53), „Counterspy“ (53), „The Divided Heart“ (54), „Miss Patterson“ (55), „Foreign Intrigue“ (56), „The Traitor“ (57), „Woman in Love“ (58) and „Mark of the Phoenix“ (58). His last cinematical works came in the 60s and 70s into being with „Beyond the Curtain“ (60), „Taste of Fear“ (61), an episode of the serial „Top Secret: The Second Man“ (62), „Billion Dollar Brain“ (67), an episode of the serial „Doctor Who: The Web of Fear“ (68), an episode of the serial „Callan: Where Else Could I Go?“ (70), „Deviation“ (71), an episode of the serial „Dial M for Murder: The Man in the Middle“ (74) und „The Glitterin Prizes“ (76).
