. The Swedish actress Sybil Smolowa (auch Smolova) was born as Anna Marie Josefa Smolova in Chlumetz an der Cidlina. She appeared in German as well as in Swedish movies. But first her career began in Riga and Warsaw where she worked as a dancer. Then she was engaged by the Shinx Film in Warsaw and her breakthrough came when Friedrich Zelnik spotted her and engaged her to Berlin. To her first productions belong "Der Schienenweg unterm Ozean" (14), "Nacht und Morgen" (16) "I mörkrets bojor" (17) and "Hiob" (18). In the 20's followed "Das schwarze Amulett" (20), "Die Geheimnisse von New York" (20) and "Kinder der Finsternis" (20), directed by Ewald André Dupont. She only took part in one talky in the 30's called "Anna und Elisabeth"
(33), after that she retired from the film business.
