Senta
Söneland
1882 - 1934 |
.
. The actress Senta Söneland was born as Else Bertha Sophie Adele Werder. She was a successful stage actress who normally impersonated humorous roles. As it was usual before World War I her contract contained the clause that she wasn't allowed to work for the film business because of its bad reputation. When the theater scene grew weary at the beginning of World War I, a lot of contracts were terminated and the stage actors and actresses seized the opportunity to begin in the film business, so did Senta Söneland. She began her film career in 1915 with productions like "Der Onkel aus Amerika" (15) and "Pension Lampel" (15). In the following years she only appeared in movies now and then, she
even got an own film serial with "Senta as....", but she concentrated her
main activity to the theater.
Her engagements in movies increased in the 30's. She played in "Der
Greifer" (30), "Trara um Liebe" (31), "Das Geheimnis um Johann Orth" (32)
and "Sag' mir, wer Du bist" (33).
