Hans Sternberg

. The actor Hans Sternberg was born as Johann Heinrich Friedrich Wilhelm Sternberg in Lübeck. He began his artistic career at the theater at the end of the 19th century and he first appeared at the "Grossherzogliches Theater" in Oldenburg. In the next years followed engagements in different cities, among them Leipzig and Hamburg. He went to Berlin in 1909 where he remained active for several decades on different stages. Only few years after his arrival in Berlin Hans Sternberg also took part in first silent movies, among them "In der Dämmerung" (13), "Der Tyrann von Muckendorf" (15), "Des Vaters Schuld" (18), "Peer Gynt" (19) and "Argus X" (19). He continued his film career in the 20s and he acted in productions like "Der müde Tod" (21), "Kinder der Zeit" (22), "Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler" (22), "Der steinerne Reiter" (23), "Athleten" (25), "Die Kleine und ihr Kavalier" (26), "Der falsche Prinz" (27) and "Schwarzwaldmädel" (29). Tha transition to the sound film was no problem for the skilled stage actor and he impersonated small support roles in "Flachsmann als Erzieher" (30), "Die eiserne Jungfrau" (32), "Schwarzwaldmädel" (33), "Prinzessin Turandot" (34), "Der Mann mit der Pranke" (35), "Familie Schimek" (35), "Hahn im Korb" (37), "Kleider machen Leute" (40), "Der grosse König" (42) and "Die goldene Stadt" (42). After the war he only took part in one more movie with "Freies Land" (46) and he also remained activ on stage till to his death.
