. The actress Hertha Thiele began her theater career in 1928 where she had her breakthrough two years later with the play "Krankheit der Jugend". The success of this play led a film adaption and to Hertha Thiele's film debut. The movie was called "Mädchen in Uniform" (31). The movie was a box-office hit and lived from the female artists. Hertha Thiele took successful part in movies like
"Kuhle Wampe oder: Wem gehört die Welt?" (32), "Mensch ohne Namen"
(32), "Anna und Elisabeth" (33), "Reifende Jugend" (33) and "Die weisse
Majestät" (33) in the next years.
The effort to build up a theater in the GDR failed and she returned to Switzerland again. But even there she only got seldom role offers. She earned her living as an assistant nurse in a psychiatry. Hertha Thiele went to GDR again in 1966 and was
able to assert as an actress again. She played at theaters and appeared
in many TV productions.
Hertha Thiele was among others married with the
actor Heinz Klingenberg.
