The actor Peter Voss learned the profession of a merchant at the request of his father and he worked in this field for a few years before serving in World War 1. After the war Peter Voss reoriented himself and he took acting lessons. Already at the end of 1919 he made his stage debut at the theater in Kiel. This was followed by engagements at theaters in Bochum, Duisburg, Basel and Berlin. In Berlin he gained a foothold in the film business from the middle of the 20's and he appeared in movies like "Liebe und Trompetenblasen" (25), "Der Kampf ums Matterhorn" (28) and "Katharina Knie" (29). With the rise of the talkies Peter Voss was more and more called for roles and he impersonated impressive characters. He appeared among others in "Zwei Welten" (30), "Sergeant X" (31), "Reifende Jugend" (33), "Fährmann Maria" (36) and "Der Hund von Baskerville" (36). In the 40's he appeared in movies like "Ein Mann auf Abwegen" (40), "Trenck, der Pandur" (40) and "Titanic" (43). Towards the end of World War II Peter Voss was drafted as a soldier and he had to survive a war for the second time in his life. He was taken prisoner of war which he survived without any harm. After the war he concentrated more on his stage career again, only occasionally he acted in front of the camera. His last cinematic works include "Wenn die Alpenrosen blüh'n" (55) and "Nacht fiel über Gotenhafen" (60)
