.
. The director Erich Waschneck first studied painting at the art academy in Leipzig before he entered the film business as a poster artist at the age of 20. Later followed engagements as a still photographer before he stepped into the active process of creating a movie as a cinematographer assistant of Fritz Arno Wagner. He became a cinematographer himself in 1921 and he was regularly active behind the camera. To his movies in this function belong "Der kleine Muck" (21), "Der verlorene Schatten" (21), "Sturmflut des Lebens" (21), "Dämon Zirkus" (23), "Ein Glas Wasser" (23), "Die Buddenbrooks" (23), "Das Haus am Meer" (24) and "Der gestohlene Professor" (24). Finally he dedicated to the director and he realised many movies as a director from 1925. For some of them he was also responsible as a screenwriter and producer. To his well-known directions of the 20s belong "Kampf um die Scholle" (25), "Der Mann im Feuer" (26), "Regine, die Tragödie einer Frau" (27), "Die Frau mit dem Weltrekord" (27), "Skandal in Baden-Baden" (29) and "Der Günstling von Schönbrunn" (29), which was added with sound later. He had no problem with the transition to the sound film and he continued his film career successfully till to the end of World War II. In those years he realised the productions "Va Banque" (30), "Das alte Lied" (30), "Acht Mädels im Boot" (32), "Unmögliche Liebe" (32), "Regine" (35), "Eskapade" (36), "Streit um den Knaben Jo" (37), "Kennwort Machin" (39), "Die Rothschilds" (40), "Nacht ohne Abschied" (43) and "Die Affäre Rödern" (44). Erich Waschneck was not able to continue his former success after the war. He only realised the movies "Danke, es geht mir gut" (48), "Drei Tage Angst" (52) and "Hab Sonne im Herzen" (53) as a director. His last cinematical works came as a screenwriter into being with "Jenny" (58). Erich Waschneck was married with the actress Karin Hardt.
