Franz Wenzler

. The director Franz Wenzler began his career at the theater where he worked as an actor, first in Regenburg and Braunschweig. Later he gained a foothold in Munich too. Finally he came to Berlin where he appeared among others at the Deutsches Theater. There he also realised several plays as a director. At the beginning of the 30s he also realised first movies as a film director. To these movies belong "Das Ekel" (31), "Ehe mit beschränkter Haftung" (31), "Gipfelstürmer" (33), the propaganda film "Hans Westmar" (33) and "Hundert Tage" (35). When he came into conflict with the National Socialist he was excepted from the Reichsfilmkammer, Franz Wenzler was not able to realised movies afterwards. He returned to the theater where he worked in Vienna. Attempts to work in the film business again failed. Franz Wenzler went to Rome where he died at the age of 49. The circumstances which led to his death are not known.
