. The actress Agnes Windeck was born as Agnes Sophie Albertine Windel in Hamburg. She experienced the high of her cinematical career at the old age in the 50s and 60s as the cool old and quick-witted old lady. She already began her career at the age of 16 in 1904 at the theater and in the next years she appeared on different stages in Germany, among them at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in her hometown Hamburg, at the Königliches Hoftheater in Hannover and at theaters in Berlin. When she got married in 1915 Agnes Windeck retired from the stage and dedicated to her family. Only in 1938 she made her stage comeback and one year later she took part in her first movie "Die barmherzige Lüge" (39). She impersonated other small film roles till the end of World War II, among them "Der Weg ins Freie" (41), "U-Boote wetwärts!" (41), "Annelie" (41), "Die grosse Liebe" (42) and "Damals" (43). After the war she had her first bigger success with the cabaret "Die Insulaner" which was broadcasted at the radio station RIAS. She was also engaged again in front of the camera and she achieved the heigh of her popularity at the age of over 70. To her well-known postwar movies belong "Strassenbekanntschaft" (48), "Der Rat der Götter" (50), "Der Onkel aus Amerika" (53), "Christina" (53), "Die Trapp-Familie" (55), "Vater sein dagegen sehr" (57), "Der Greifer" (58), "A Time to Love and a Time to Die" (58), "Peter schiesst den Vogel ab" (59) and "Arzt ohne Gewissen" (59). She reached the peak of the vogue in the 60s, among others with the very popular Edgar Wallace filmings. To her works of those years belong "20 Minuten Aufenthalt" (60), "Finden sie, dass Constanze sich richtig verhält?" (62), "Der Zinker" (63), "Scotland Yard jagt Dr. Mabuse" (63), "Mrs. Cheney's Ende" (65), "Der Bucklige von Soho" (66), die Serie "Die Unverbesserlichen" (66-71), "Rheinsberg" (67), "Der Hund von Blackwood Castle" (68) and "Morgens um Sieben ist die Welt noch in Ordnung" (68). Agnes Windeck remained active for the film and the theater with over 80 years. To her last cinematical roles belong "Mein Freund Harvey" (70), "Die Herren mit der weissen Weste" (70), "Heintje - Einmal wird die Sonne wieder scheinen" (70), "Glückspilze" (71), "Grün ist die Heide" (72), the serial "Acht nach 8" (73) and "Alter Kahn und junge Liebe" (73). Besides her activity as an actress she also dubbed international movie actresses like Margaret Rutherford, moreover she was alco active as a acting teacher. To her most famous students belonged Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff and Klaus Schwarzkopf.
