The actor, producer and director Alfred Zeisler was born in Chicago, his father and his oncle were both stage actors. He began his cinematical work in the silent movie era. He wrote the script to "Rivalen" (23), in 1925 he realised the movie "Hinter den Kulissen der Reichspost" (25)as a director and in 1928 he appeared in front of the camera as an actor for the movie "Die Carmen von St. Pauli".

His versatility in the film business continued in the next years and he appeared especially as a director and producer.
To his well-known movies as a director belong "Der Schuss im Tonfilmatelier" (30), the cyclist comedy "Strich durch die Rechnung" (32) with Heinz Rühmann, "Schuss im Morgengrauen" (32), "Der Stern von Valencia" (33) and later in the emigration the movies"Crime Over London" (36), "The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss" (36) with Cary Grant and "Fear" (46).

As a producer he was responsible for movies like "Die blonde Nachtigall" (30), "Der Tiger" (30), "Schuss im Morgengrauen" (32), "Viktor und Viktoria" (33), "Gold" (34) and "The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss" (36).

Alfred Zeisler was married with the actress Lien Deyers.
