. The actress Maria Zelenka began her impressive career at the theater where she was engaged at the Stadttheater Nuremberg, the Hoftheater Mannheim, the k.k. Hofburgtheater Vienna and Hoftheater Munich. The way to the film business was unusual. In a newspaper she read the advertisement: "Young and pretty actress will be trained to a first-class actress by a capable director. She got in touch with the company and got a contract on the base of two months by the May-Film-GmbH. Immediately after the signing the Danny Kadern GmbH wanted her and offered her an two-year contract. They had to pay a transfer fee and Maria Zelenka signed the contract which was the beginning of an impressive film career. At the end of the 10's she took part in movies like "Weib gegen Weib" (18), "Alkohol" (19), "Das Grand Hotel Babylon" (19), "Das Schicksal der Maria Keith" (19) and "Lola Montez" (19). In the 20's followed the height of her extensive career. She became soon a popular star and took part in well-known productions like "Das Bild der Geliebten" (20), "Fremde Welten" (20), "Die Schuldige" (21), "Das Mädchen ohne Gewissen" (22), "Die Elixiere des Teufels" (22), "Die Todgeweihten" (24), "Der Leidensweg der kleinen Li-Lo" (25) and "Das deutsche Lied" (28). Her career ended with the rise of the sound film.
