. The actress Manny Ziener was born as Amanda Margarethe Elise Emma Lemke in Berlin. She belonged to the first movie stars at the beginning of the upcoming silent film. She learnt her acting abilities at the theaters and since 1910 she constantly appeared in stages in Berlin. In this time she often took part in comedies which was also the main focus of her film career few years later. She made her film debut with "Die Mauritiusmarke" (12) and already one years later she achieved great popularity with movies like "Wer ist der Täter?" (13), "Richard Wagner" (13) and "Die schwarze Kugel oder Die geheimnisvollen Schwestern" (13). She assured her status as a movie actress in the next years and appeared in numerous productions. To these movies belong "Die grosse Sünderin" (14), "Liebe und Alkohol" (15), "Die Enterbten" (15), "Die zerbrochene Puppe" (15), "Susanne im Bade" (16) and "Aus eines Mannes Mädchenjahren" (19). Afterwards the theater recaptured the main component of her professional activity but she remained active in the film business in the next years, now often engaged for support roles. In the 20s she acted in movies like "Die Stunde nach Mitternacht" (20), "Eine Frau mit Vergangenheit" (21), "Miss Venus" (21) and "Der überlistete Geizhals" (23). After a break of about 10 years she made her comeback in the sound film of the 30s. She impersonated roles in "Die Herren vom Maxim" (33), "Der blaue Diamant" (35), "Onkel Bräsig" (36), "Die Reise nach Tilsit" (39), "Nora" (43) and "Oberwachtmeister Borck" (55).
