The actress Sylvia Ashton joined the film business in 1912 where she
soon became a demanded actress, often in the roles of a mother.
She began her film career with "Trying to Fool Uncle" (12), "The Speed
Demon" (12), "The Cowboy Guardians" (12) and "Fatty's Big Mix-Up" (12)
among others.
In the next years she took aprt in numerous other movies like "Kissing
Kate" (13), "A Queer Elopement" (13), "All Hail to the King" (13), "A Chinese
Puzzle" (13), "Black and White" (13), "The Raid of the Human Tiger" (13),
"Tennessee" (14), "Shorty and Sherlock Holmes" (14), "The Housebreakers"
(14), "Love and Business" (15), "The Man Who Died" (15), "Viviana" (16),
"Intolerance" (16), "Billy the Bandit" (16), "Whose Baby?" (17), "We Can't
Have Everything" (18), "Under the Top" (19) and "For Better, for Worse"
(19) directed by Cecil B. DeMille.
The 20s offered her again numerous thankful roles, e.g. by Cecil B.
DeMille again and she appeared in the productions "Jenny Be Good" (20),
"The Soul of Youth" (20), "The Snob" (21), "The Love Charm" (21), "Borderland"
(22), "Manslaughter" (22), "Desire" (23), "Greed" (24) directed by Erich
von Strohiem", "Cheating Cheaters" (27), "Bachelor's Paradise" (28) and
"The Barker" (28).
Sylvia Ashton retired from the film business with the rise of the talkies,
only for Erich von Stroheim's movie "Queen Kelly" (32) with Gloria Swanson
and Walter Byren she returned a last time.
