Er begann seine Laufbahn in den 20er Jahren, wo er für einige erfolgreiche Produktionen verantwortlich war, dazu gehören "Wild Justice" (25), "The Eagle" (25) mit Rudolph Valentino und Vilma Banky, "The Son of the Sheik" (26), erneut mit Valentino und Banky, "Two Arabian Knights" (28) mit Mary Astor und William Boyd, "Tempest" (28) mit John Barrymore und Camilla Horn sowie "Eternal Love" (29) erneut mit Barrymore und Horn unter der Regie von Ernst Lubitsch.

In den 30er Jahren produzierte er die bekannten Filme "She Wanted a Millionaire" (32), "Flesh" (32), "Evelyn Prentice" (34), "Mad Love" (35), "Broadway Melody of 1936" (36), "Of Human Hearts" (38), "Arsène Lupin Returns" (38), "Boys Town" (39) und "Blackmail" (39).

Seine letzten filmischen Umsetzungen entstanden in den 40er Jahren, dazu gehören "Young Tom Edison" (40), "Married Bachelor" (41), "Johnny Eager" (42) und "Three Hearts for Julia" (43).
