The actress  Alice Crawford was born in Bendigo, Australia.

She came to England together with Wilson Barret at the age of 20 and she made her European stage debut in the same year at the Adelphi theater with the play "The Christian King".

She soon became a successful and demanded stage actress in the next years and took part in numerous plays. 

She only appeared sporadically in movies, for the first time for the production "False Ambition" (18) with Alma Rubens, in which she played the role of Lucy Vernon.

Four years later followed her last movie impersonation Stephanie Dangerfield in "The Glorious Adventure" (22) with Diana Manners, Gerald Lawrence and Cecil Humphreys. 

Alice Crawford died in 1931 at the age of only 49. Her sister Ruby Crawford was an actress as well.
