He gained a foothold in the silent movie era in 1922 and he impersonated roles in "The Stockbroker's Clerk" (22), "One Arabian Night" (23), "Woman to Woman" (23), "Nell Gwyn" (26) and "The King's Highway" (27). As an experienced stage actor he had no problem to switch to the sound
film era and he took part in productions like "Harmony Heaven" (30), "Good
Night, Vienna" (32), "Squibs" (35), "Jury's Evidence" (36) and "Cross My
Heart" (37).
