1894 - 1946

In den 30er Jahren folgte der Höhepunkt seiner Laufbahn und verkörperte in unzähligen Filmen meist kleinere Rollen. 
Dazu gehören "Out of the Blue" (31), "The Strangler" (32), "Money Talks" (32), "Insult" (32) mit John Gielgud, "The Bad Companions" (32), "Sleepless Nights" (32) mit Stanley Lupino, "The Outcast" (34), "The Great Defender" (34) mit Matheson Lang, "Invitation to the Waltz" (35) mit Lillian Harvey, "No Monkey Business" (35), "Captain Bill" (36), "The Amazing Quest of Ernest Bliss" (36) mit Cary Grant in der Titelrolle, "The Man Behind the Mask" (36) von Regisseur Michael Powell, Alfred Hitchcocks"Sabotage" (36), "Victoria the Great" (37) mit Anna Neagle und Anton Walbrook und "The Divorce of Lady X" (38) mit Laurence Olivier und Merle Oberon.

In den 40er Jahren nahmen seine Engagements vor der Kamera ab und es folgten etwas mehr als ein Dutzend Filme bis zu seinem Tod 1946.
Zu seinen letzten Filmen zählen "Next of Kin" (42), "Old Mother Riley Detective" (43), "Millions Like Us" (43) mit Patricia Roc und einem jungen Gordon Jackson, "Welcome, Mr. Washington" (44), "It Happened One Sunday" (44) von Regisseur Carl Lamac und "I'll Turn to You" (46).
