1899 - 1984

He already got his first movie roles in 1918 in "The Beloved Imposter" (18) and "The Great Romance" (18). After that it took five more years before he appeared on the screen again.
His next movie "The White Rose" (23) was directed by the famous D.W. Griffith and stand for the breakthrough of the young Hamilton. He took part in two more movies of Griffith called "America" (24) and "Isn't Life Wonderful" (24), after that he changed to Paramount where he became one of the most popular leading actors. With movies like "Beau Geste" (26), "The Great Gatsby" (26), "Ten Modern Commandments" (27), "The Shield of Honor" (27), "The Showdown" (28), "The Patriot" (28), "A Dangerous Woman" (29) and "The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu" (29) he underpinned his state as a star.

In the 30's he almost worked for all studion in Hollywood. He often convinced in authoritarian parts in the movies "The Widow from Chicago" (30), "The Spy" (31), "Tarzan the Ape Man" (32), "This Modern Age" (31), "Two Against the World" (32), "Blind Date" (34), "Fugitive Lady" (34), "Parisienne Life" (35) and "Lady Behave" (37).

Neil Hamilton grew into the role of the mature, gray-haired gentleman and found regular work till to the 40's as a support actor. To his well-known movies of the 40's belong "Too Many Women" (42), "When Strangers Marry" (44) and "Brewster's Millions" (45).
After that his fame faded. In took part in single TV shows in the 50's, in the cinema he only turned up from the 60's, among others in "The Devil's Hand" (62), "Good Neighbor Sam" (64), "Strategy of Terror" (69) and the Jerry-Lewis movies "The Family Jewels" (65) and "Which Way to the Front?" (70).

He became a notion for the younger generation with his role as commissioner Gorden in the TV serial "Batman" (66). He also appeared in TV episodes like "Perry Mason: The Case of the Lazy Lover" (58), "Maverick: The Rivals" (59), "Zorro: Spark of Revenge" (59), "Mister Ed: No Horses Allowed" (62), "The Outer Limits: The Invisibles" (64) and "The Munsters: Autumn Croakus" (64).
