The actress Iris Hoey began her career at the theater after she finished her acting education at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

She made her stage debut with "The Darling of the Gods" in 1903.
It soon followed other engagements in Great Britain, among others "Baby Mine" (11) from Margaret Mayo.

Iris Hoey appeared in 1922 in a movie for the first time called "East Lynne" (22) which remained her only silent movie.

She only continued her film career from 1931 and she continued it till 1940 more or less constantly. 
To her movies of those years belong "Her Reputation" (31), "Those Were the Days" (34), "Once in a Million" (35), "Living Dangerously" (36), "The Tenth Man" (36), "The Perfect Crime" (37), "The Terror" (38), "Pygmalion" (38) and "The Midas Touch" (40).

After a longer interruption followed her last two movies with "Poet's Pub" (49) and "The Girl Who Couldn't Quite" (50),

Iris Hoey was among others married with the actor Cyril Raymond.
