Die Schauspielerin Carol Holloway gehörte in den 10er Jahren zu
den populären Darstellerinnen, die auch eine eigene Serie erhielt,
in denen sie ihre athletischen Fähigkeiten ausleben konnte.
Begonnen hatte alles mit einer Theatergruppe, mit der sie schliesslich
nach New York gelangte. Dort knüpfte sie Kontakt zum Film und arbeitete
in den nächsten Jahren für verschiedene Studio wie der Vitagraph,
bei der sie bis 1918 oftmals mit William Duncan zusammenarbeitete.
Zu ihren ersten Filmen gehören "A Strange Melody" (14), "Patsy
at School" (14), "Patsy at College" (15), "Bags of Gold" (15), "Patsy Among
the Fairies" (15), "The Lure of the Mask" (15), "Johnny the Barber" (15)
und "A Girl, a Guard, and a Garret" (15).
In der 2. Hälfte der 10er Jahre wuchs ihre Popularität weiter
an und sie verkörperte unzählige Rollen in Produktionen wie "The
First Quarrel" (16), "Billy Van Deusen and the Vampire" (16), "Too Much
Married" (16), "Billy Van Deusen's Muddle" (16), "Number Please?" (16),
"Billy Van Deusen's Operation" (16), "In the Land of the Tortilla" (16),
"The Prodigal Uncle" (17), "The Tenderfoot" (18), "The Winning of the Mocking
Bird" (18) und "Perils of Thunder Mountain" (19).
In den 20er Jahren konnte sie nochmals in namhaften Produktionen an
der Seite von Stars wie Tom Mix und Hoot Gibson agieren, dazu gehören
"A Good Bad Man" (20), "The Deceiver" (20), "The Sea Lion" (21), "Rich
Men's Wives" (22), "Gossip" (23), "The Love Pirate" (23), "Beau Brummel"
(24), "The Rainbow Trail" (25), "Jack the Plumber" (27) und "The Cherokee
Kid" (27).
Im Tonfilm der 30er Jahre war der Ruhm von damals verblasst und sie
erhielt nur noch kleinere Rollen.
Dazu gehören "The Sign of the Cross" (32) mit Fredric March, Charles
Laughton und Claudette Colbert, "The Whole Town's Talking" (35), "The Crime
of Dr. Forbes" (36) mit Gloria Stuart, "Way Out West" (37) mit dem legendären
Komikerduo Stan Laurel und Oliver Hardy, "Scandal Street" (38), "The Lady
from Kentucky" (39) mit George Raft und ZaSu Pitts und "The Night of Nights"
(39) mit Pat O'Brien.
Nach den Filmen "Emergency Squad" (40) mit dem noch unbekannten Anthony
Quinn und "The Hard-Boiled Canary" (41) von Regisseur Andrew L. Stone zog
sie sich aus dem Filmgeschäft zurück.
Neben der Schauspielerei schrieb Carol Holloway Ende der 20er Jahre
auch einige Drehbücher.
