The
actor Edward Martindel began his career on stage where he was
also successful on Broadway.
He made his screen debut in 1915
with "The Foundling" (15) and in the next years
followed movies like "The Eternal Question" (16),
"Vanity" (17) and "A Star Over Night" (19).
The 20s was the most successful
decade of his film career and Edward Martindel impersonated
numerous roles in silent movies.
To his well-known works of those
years belong "Captain Swift" (20), "Greater Than
Love" (21), "The Call of the North" (21), "The
Ordeal" (22), "Manslaughter" (22), "The Man
Without a Country" (25), "The Phantom of the Opera"
(25), "Lady Windermere's Fan" (25), "Venus of
Venice" (27), "In Old Kentucky" (27), "The
Desert Bride" (28), "Innocents of Paris" (29),
"Modern Love" (29) and "The Aviator" (29).
With the rise of the sound film in
the 30s his appearances in front of the camera diminished.
To his movies of the 30s belong

Head" (34) and "The Girl Who Came Back" (35).
His last movie came in 1946 into being with "Lover
Come Back" (46).
