Der Schauspieler Harry McCoy gehörte der legendären Keystone
Company an und verkörperte unzählige Rollen in Komödienfilmen
des jungen Films unter Mack Sennett.
Sein Filmdebüt feierte er bereits 1912 u.a. mit "Pants and Pansies"
(12) und "Got a Match" (12), in den nächsten paar Jahren folgte ein
Film auf den anderen und Harry McCoy agierte an der Seite von zukünftigen
Stars wie Fatty Roscoe Arbuckle und Charlie Chaplin.
Mit Filmen wie "A Tangled Affair" (13), "Billy Dodges Bills" (13), "He
Would a Hunting Go" (13), "The Champion" (13) und einer Reihe von Filmen
rund um die Figuren von Mike und Jake (McCoy als Jake) spielte er sich
in die Herzen des Publikums.
1914 folgten etliche Auftritte in der Mabel-Normand-Serie, in der auch
Charlie Chaplin seinen Tramp zum Besten gab. Dazu gehören "Mabel's
Strange Predicament" (14), "Mabel at the Wheel" (14) und "Mabel's Married
Life" (14). Weitere Filme in diesem Jahr waren "A Race with Death" (14),
"The Star Boarder" (14), "The Property Man" (14), "His New Profession"
(14), "Gentlemen of Nerve" (14) und "Getting Acquainted" (14).
Bis Ende der 10er Jahre folgten weitere Produktionen wie "Caught in
a Park" (15), "Crossed Love and Swords" (15), "For Better - For Worse"
(15), "His Luckless Love" (15), "His Last Laugh" (16), "All at Sea" (17),
"The Chicken Hunters" (19) und "The Garage" (19).
In den 20er Jahren nahmen seine Rollen vor der Kamera ab und er konzentrierte
sich ab Mitte der 20er Jahre vermehrt auf das Schreiben von Drehbüchern.
Als Schauspieler blieb er den komischen Rollen treu und agierte in
"A Close Shave" (20), "Obey the Law" (24), "Taxi! Taxi!" (24), "The Fatal
Mistake" (24), "Sweetheart" (25), "Hearts of Men" (28) und "Whirls and
Girls" (29).
Im Tonfilm trat Harry McCoy so gut wie gar nicht in Erscheinung, lediglich
in "The Trial of Vivienne Ware" (32), "Calm Yourself" (35) und "Woman Wanted"
(35) spielte er vor der Kamera.
Zu seinen Drehbüchern gehören die Produktionen "Alice Be Good"
(26), "A Blonde's Revenge" (26), "The Bull Fighter" (27), "The Chaser"
(28), "The Big Palooka" (29), "Honeymoon Zeppelin" (30), "The College Vamp"
