Der Schauspieler Tom Moore wurde in eine künstlerisch begabte
Familie hineingeboren; seine Brüder Owen Moore (verheiratet mit Mary
Pickford) und Matt Moore sowie seine Schwester Mary Moore wurden ebenfalls
bekannte Filmdarsteller.
Bereits 1908 kam er zum Film und agierte in Kurzfilmen wie "The Christmas
Burglars" (08), "The Voice of the Violin" (09) und "A Drunkard's Reformation"
(09).
In den 10er Jahren avancierte Tom Moore zu einem populären Darsteller
und er verkörperte verschiedenste Rollen in Produktionen wie "Into
the Jungle" (12), "The Thief" (12), "The Young Millionaire" (12), "Panic
Days in Wall Street" (13), "The Sneak" (13), "The Christian" (13), "The
Shadow" (14), "The Beast" (14), "The Vampire's Trail" (14), "The Black
Sheep" (14), "The Secret Room" (15), "The First Commandment" (15), "The
Primrose Ring" (17), "The Cinderella Man" (17), "The Danger Game" (18),
"The City of Comrades" (19) und "The Gay Lord Quex" (19).
Die 20er Jahre offerierten ihm erneut zahlreiche Engagements, darunter
"Made in Heaven" (21), "Mr. Barnes of New York" (22), "Pawned" (22), "Manhandled"
(24), "Under the Rouge" (25), "A Kiss for Cinderella" (25), "Cabaret" (27),
"The Wise Wife" (27), "His Last Haul" (28) und "Side Street" (29).
Im Tonfilm der 30er Jahre verkörperte er meist Nebenrollen in
Produktionen wie "The Costello Case" (30), "Cannonball Express" (32), "See
You Tonight" (33), "The Dark Angel" (35), "The Girl on the Front Page"
(36) und "Reunion" (36).
Danach folgte ein längerer Unterbruch, ehe er ab 1946 wieder vor
der Kamera agierte.
Zu seinen letzten Filmen gehören "Behind Green Lights" (46), "The
Shocking Miss Pilgrim" (47), "Forever Amber" (47), "Scudda Hoo! Scudda
Hay!" (48) mit der noch unbekannten Marilyn Monroe, "Cry of the City" (48),
"The Redhead and the Cowboy" (51) und "The Great Diamond Robbery" (54).
Neben seiner Tätigkeit als Schauspieler realisierte er auch einige
Filme als Regisseur wie "The Mad Mountaineer" (14), "The Prodigal" (14),
"The Secret Room" (15), "Poison" (15), "The Black Ring" (15) und "The Legacy
of Folly" (15).
Tom Moore war u.a. mit den Schauspielerinnen Alice
Joyce und Renée Adorée verheiratet.
Seine Tochter Alice Moore aus der Ehe mit Alice Joyce wurde ebenfalls
Schauspielerin.
