Der Schauspieler James Neill hatte sich bereits einen guten Namen beim
Theater erarbeitet - sowohl als Schauspieler wie auch Regisseur - als er
in den frühen 10er Jahren den noch jungen Film als Darsteller eroberte.
Bei der Jesse J. Lasky Company entstanden seine ersten Filme und bildeten
den Auftakt zu einer vielbeschäftigten Filmlaufbahn.
Zu seinen ersten Filmen gehören "The Heart of a Cracksman" (13),
"The Lie" (14), "Richelieu" (14), "Ready Money" (14), "The Circus Man"
(14), "The Warrens of Virginia" (15), "The Woman" (15) und "The Explorer"
(15).
In der zweiten Hälfte der 10er Jahre war er weiterhin ein begehrter
Darsteller, der häufig in grösseren Nebenrollen beschäftigt
wurde.
Dazu gehören die Produktionen "Maria Rosa" (16), "Oliver Twist"
(16), "The Black Wolf" (17),"Forbidden Paths" (17), "Ghost House" (17),
"Sandy" (18), "Too Many Millions" (18), "The Secret Garden" (19) und "Everywoman"
(19).
Seinen letzten grossen Produktionen entstanden in den 20er Jahren, wo
er u.a. in den Filmen "A Voice in the Dark" (21), "Saturday Night" (22),
"Dusk to Dawn" (22), "Manslaughter" (22), "Scars of Jealousy" (23), "The
Ten Commandments" (23), "The Crimson Runner" (25), "The King of Kings"
(27) und "The Idle Rich" (29) agierte.
In den 30er Jahren entstanden nur noch wenige Filme mit James Neill
wie "Only the Brave" (30) und "Man to Man" (30) bevor er 1931 verstarb.
James Neill war mit der Schauspielerin Edythe Chapman verheiratet.
