. The actor Reginald Owen took acting lessons at Herbert Tree's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and he made his stage debut in 1905. He appeared on different stages in England and in 1920 he moved to the USA where he continued his stage career in New York where he acted on Broadway. He already made his film debut during his time in Great Britain and his first movie was "Henry VIII" (11). It followed the silent movies "The Flight of Death" (14), "Sally in Our Alley " (16) and "A Place in the Sun" (16) folgten. He was able to continue his film career in the USA successfully and in the 20s he appeared in few productions like "The Grass Orphan" (22) and "The Letter" (29). From the sound film era of the 30s he became a much demanded leading and support acot and he impersonated numerous roles in well-known productions like "The Man in Possession" (31), "Platinum Blonde" (31), "Sherlock Holmes" (32) playing the role of Dr. Watson, "Queen Christina" (33), "A Study in Scarlet" (33) - this time he played the role of Sherlock Holmes, "The House of Rothschild" (34), "The Countess of Monte Cristo" (34), "Of Human Bondage" (34), "Madame Du Barry" (34), "Anna Karenina" (35), "The Great Ziegfeld" (36), "Madame X" (37), "Conquest" (37), "Kidnapped" (38), "A Christmas Carol" (38) as Ebenezer Scrooge and "Bad Little Angel" (39). Reginald Owen took part again in numerous movies during the 40s and 50s both in well-known feature movies and TV productions. To his most popular works of those years belong "Blonde Inspiration" (41), "Charley's Aunt" (41), "Tarzan's Secret Treasure" (41), "Woman of the Year" (42), "Mrs. Miniver" (42), "I Married an Angel" (42), "Madame Curie" (43), "The Canterville Ghost" (44), "The Picture of Dorian Gray" (45), "Monsieur Beaucaire" (46), "The Pirate" (48), "The Three Musketeers" (48), "The Great Diamond Robbery" (54) and several episodes of the serial "Maverick" like "Maverick: The Belcastle Brand" (58) and "Maverick: Gun-Shy" (59). Reginald Owen remained active as an actor till to his death and in the 60s and 70s he appeared in movies like "Five Weeks in a Balloon" (62), "Tammy and the Doctor" (63), ass Admiral Boom in "Mary Poppins" (64), an episode of the serial "Bewitched: The Short Happy Circuit of Aunt Clara" (66), "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" (71) as General Teagler, an episode of the serial "McCloud: Give My Regrets to Broadway" (72) and "Topper Returns" (73). Reginald Owen was among others married with the actresses Lydia Bilbrook nd Harold Austin.
