The Australian actress Ethel Phillips began her film career in her home country under the direction of Alfred Rolfe with the movies "Moora Neya, or The Message of the Spear" (11) and "What Women Suffer" (11).

She soon became a popular film actress and in the next year she impersonated roles in "The Cheat" (12) and "Cooee and the Echo" (12).

In1913 she went to the USA where she was able to continue her film career successfully and already in her first year there she took part in numerous productions.
To these movies belong "Shep, the Hero" (13), "A Victim of Deceit" (13), "The Fatal Shot" (13) and "The Attorney for the Defense" (13).

Ethel Phillips remained active in front of the camera till 1916, afterwards she retired from the film business. 
To her last cinematical works belong "The Banker's Daughter" (14), "The Sign of the Cross" (14), "The Commanding Officer" (15), "The Shriek in the Night" (15), "The Widow's Secret" (15) and "The Code of the Mounted" (16).
