Mabel Poulton

The actress Mabel Poulton had worked has a secretary at the Alhambra Theater when she was able to gain a foothold as an actress by chance.
She made her film debut with "Nothing Else Matters" (20) and began with it a successful career in the British film business.

Mabel Poulton became a star in the next years and fill the audience with enthusiasm with her roles in "Mary-Find-the-Gold" (21), "The Good in the Garden" (21), "The Ball of Fortune" (26), "A Daughter in Revolt" (27), "Not Quite a Lady" (28) and finally "The Constant Nymph" (28).
She also took part in a German movie once called "Nachtgestalten" (29).

She experienced the height of her career at the end of the silent movie era and belonged to the most popular British stars together with Betty Balfour.
But with the rise of the talkies came the premature end of her career. Because of her strong Londoner accent she was no longer very demanded by the producer like in former years and Mabel Poulton only appeared in few more movies.

To these movies belong "Escape" (30), "Terror on Tiptoe" (36) and "Crown vs. Stevens" (36).
