Zu ihren ersten Filmen gehören "Bridegrooms Beware" (13), "The Courage of a Coward" (14), "The Suicide Club" (14), "The Bells of Rheims" (14), "Fine Feathers" (15), "Charity Ann" (15), "Another Man's Wife" (15), "The Manxman" (16), "Esther" (16) und "A Star Over Night" (19).

Danach folgte ein längerer Unterbruch, in welchem sie keine Filme mehr drehte.
Ihr Comeback feierte sie beim Tonfilm der 30er Jahre in den USA, wo sie in den nächsten Jahren in unzähligen Filmen reifere Frauen in allen Varianten verkörperte.

Zu ihren bekanntesten Filmen der 30er Jahre gehören "Crime and Punishment" (35), "Lady of Secrets" (36), "The Final Hour" (36), "Dead End" (37), "The Adventure sof Huckleberry Finn" (39) und "Full Confession" (39).

In den 40er Jahren setzte sie ihre Filmlaufbahn erfolgreich fort und spielte oftmals mit den grossen Hollywoodstars zusammen.
Zu ihren Filmen dieser Jahre gehören "Mexican Spitfire" (40), "The Howards of Viriniga" (40), "High Sierra" (41), "Random Harvest" (42), "The Canterville Ghost" (44), "The Unseen" (45), "Life with Father" (47) und "Sealed Verdict" (48).

In den 50er Jahren nahm das Fernsehen eine immer bedeutendere Rolle ein und es entstanden neben Fernsehproduktionen nur noch wenige Kinofilme.
Zu ihren letzten filmischen Arbeiten gehören "The Secret Fury" (50), "It's a Big County" (51), "Scaramouche" (52) und eine Episode der Serie "The Whistler: Incident at Scrully's Key" (54).
