. The Czechslovak actress Anna Sedlackova was born into an artistic family, her father and her oncle were comedians on stage and appeared among others at the National Theatre of Prague. Anna Sedlackova became also a successful stage actress and made her debut in 1903 with"Die Kinder des Capitaine Grant". In the next years she cemented her status as a stage actress and achieved huge popularity as a comedian as well as a character actress. To her stage appearances belong the plays "Pygmalion", "Christine", "Maria Stuart" and "Die Kameliendame". She conquered the world of film in 1912 and founded together with her husband Max Urban the film company ASUM. She took part in numerous movies in her first years like "Konec milovani" (13), "Falesny hrac" (13) and "Soferka" (13). In the next years followed other productions like "Nightmare" (14), "Idyla ze staré Prahy" (18) and "O Adrienu" (19). Afterwards the amount of appearances in front of the camera diminished. After the silent movie "Lucerna" (25) she took part in few talkies like "Tajemstvi lekarovo" (30) and "Tanecek panny marinky" (35). Afterwards she worked again exclusively for the theater, in 1939 she founded the "Theater Anna Sedlackova". Besides her activity as an actress she also wrote some scripts for her own movies, especially at the beginning of her career. Anna Sedlackova got the Czechslovak National Price in 1927.
