. The producer Edward Small began his professional career as a talent scout, an activity he already started at young age and which he continued with his "Edward Small Agency". When he went to Hollywood in 1917 he began to produce movies from 1924. To his first movies as a producer belong "McFadden's Flats" (27) and "Song of Love" (29). He strenghtened his position as an independant producer in the next decades and realised numerous movies, e.g. with his participation as co-founder of "Reliance Pictures" in 1932 together with Joseph Schenck and Harry M. Goetz. Beside it he also run his own production company "Edward Small Productions", which realised many well-known productions. To his most popular movies of the 30's and 40's belong "I Cover the Waterfront" (33), "Palooka" (34), "The Count of Monte Cristo" (34), "The Last of the Mohicans" (36), "Sea Devils" (37), "The Man in the Iron Mask" (39), "Kit Carson" (40), "The Corsican Brothers" (41), "Brewster's Millions" (45), "Temptation" (46), "The Black Arrow" (48) and "Walk a Crooked Mile" (48). In the 50's he wasn't able to go on from the earlier successes but he still produced a lot of movies like "Valentino" (51), "Lorna Doone" (51), "Southwest Passage" (54), "The Naked Street" (55), "Top Gun" (55), "Jack the Giant Killer" (62), "Diary of a Madman" (63), "Frankie and Johnny" (66) and "The Christine Jorgensen Story" (70) - his last production.
