. The actor Fred Terry was well-known as a stage actor in the first place who achieved huge popularity as a romantic actor at Henry Irving's and Henry Beerbohm Tree's theaters. He was born into an artistic family, his sister Ellen Terry became also an actress and his other seven siblings had to to with the theater in one or another way too. Fred Terry made his stage debut in 1880 at the Lyceum theater with the play "Twelfth Night", it followed successes with "Macbeth" and "The Merchant of Venice". He was working for the Ben Greet company from 1883 to 1889, from 1890 1894 for the Beerbohm Tree company. In the years 1912 and 1913 he had to interrupt his career because of serious illness, after his recovery he went on tour again. His most famous roles was the one of Sir Percy Blakeney in the play
"The Scarlet Pimpernel".
